The server at twitter.com is a capricious bitch.

As I post this, Twitter is down again and I need access to it to finish the blog post I had started a few days ago. In many ways, Twitter is like an abusive lover. Why do I stay? I love her, man. That’s why.

I mean to blog more on TwitterStars.com, I really do. It’s just sometimes tough because I get so wrapped up in posting on Twitter that I forget to come back to posting on the blog. I think the solution for me is to keep the blog open on my laptop screen and Twitter open on my external monitor… or perhaps even on the computer to my immediate right; anything with a spare keyboard and screen.

I know a lot of people love dual monitors. I’ve always been a bigger fan of multiple computers with a shared drive. There’s something about having the extra keyboard in addition to the extra screen that really works for me. I think this is why I’ve defaulted to my laptop setup. Whether I am at work or home, I put my laptop on a stand and plug in an external Samsung SyncMaster and a Microsoft keyboard and mouse. It’s like having two computers sitting side-by-side. Depending on what I’m working on, I typically I like to work with 4 computers at the same time.

I’m trying this out now for the first time and it seems to be working quite well. I am able to post on Twitter and still work on this blog entry. Maybe now I can finish up the Twitter Stars entry that I seem to keep getting distracted away from!

My intention was to create a theme for Twitter Stars today but I’ve been enjoying my taking a lazy and peaceful afternoon for myself.

I’ve been getting a lot of positive response through DM, on Twitter, and on AIM. I appreciate all the kind words. The Twitter community is incredible. I’ve been online since 1983 and I’ve never participated in such a warm, genuinely kind, and thought-provoking community. To me, Twitter is the best of everything the internet had ever claimed itself to be.

That is, when she’s talking to me.
